Heraklion
We only stayed in Heraklion one night - this is the largest city and is where the airport is that we flew into. We barely saw any of it because most of our time was spent Westward, however I think it's worth checking out.
-
Infinity City Boutique Hotel - lovely rooms, really nice breakfast, friendly staff
-
THINK TANK cafe - good coffee, beautiful rooftop seating area with lots of greenery
-
Plánē - cute restaurant with outdoor seating, right next to the hotel
-
Wine and cheese from small markets
-
Walking around the harbor
-
Old town had a lot of cute looking restaurants that we would have loved to try!

SPAIN
Barcelona // Menorca
I got the chance to travel to Spain when my amazing Fulbright scholar boyfriend lived there for 6 months after 6 months in Scotland. We explored Barcelona and enjoyed countless meals of wine and tapas, the beautiful architecture, and the vibrant, warm culture of the people there. We also took a little side trip to Menorca, one of the Balearic Islands. Because we went during the off-season, many things were not open, however we had a number of beaches all to ourselves. It felt like we had our own, private paradise. The water was a breathtaking clear, crystal blue. We stayed in the most beautiful boutique hotel in Mao (Petit Mao), and both got a couple pairs of avarcas, leather sandals originating from the island that have become quite popular. It was a dream of a trip, and we are already scheming our plan to go back!
