Happy New Year everyone!
We welcomed in the New Year on the coast of Maine this year. We spent a few days in Belfast, a quaint town nestled at the mouth of the Passagassawakeag River estuary just a couple of hours north of Portland. We took advantage of the fresh seafood from the local grocery store and walks along the bay. Visiting little towns like this out-of-season is such a treat - you get to really know a place without the crowds of bustling tourists, and you know that if a place is open that it must be good since the locals still go during the winter months (like this brewery). We found a nearby lighthouse and took a spontaneous stroll across a frozen lake amongst people ice fishing. And although we didn't spend too much time in Portland, we could tell what a great city it is and hope to have another visit soon!
