Heraklion
We only stayed in Heraklion one night - this is the largest city and is where the airport is that we flew into. We barely saw any of it because most of our time was spent Westward, however I think it's worth checking out.
-
Infinity City Boutique Hotel - lovely rooms, really nice breakfast, friendly staff
-
THINK TANK cafe - good coffee, beautiful rooftop seating area with lots of greenery
-
Plánē - cute restaurant with outdoor seating, right next to the hotel
-
Wine and cheese from small markets
-
Walking around the harbor
-
Old town had a lot of cute looking restaurants that we would have loved to try!

BANFF
Alberta, Canada
Last week we moved my boo back to the East Coast from Oregon. This was our second cross country road trip - last time we decided to go the southern route through Utah, Kansas, etc., but we thought we'd go the North this time around. From Portland, Oregon, we drove through eastern Washington, northern Idaho, British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, North Dakota, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and finally, New York. One of our stops was in Alberta, and we took a day to explore amazingly beautiful Banff. We saw snow capped mountains and rugged cliffs, endless expanses of evergreens, and icy, bright blue water. We kayaked around Lake Louise (HIGHLY recommend!), and hiked along Johnston canyon. Unfortunately we didn't see any grizzlies or moose, but we did see a lovely female elk, mountain goats, and some eagles! This day was absolutely the highlight of the trip.
