My Style

My photography reflects my passion for life. Capturing genuine, raw emotion and bringing out natural colors to beautifully preserve people and places is my mission (and brings me so much joy!).

My style is bright, crisp, clean, natural, and colorful. I primarily seek out beautiful unplanned, candid moments and keep posing to a minimum. While my photos tend to have a similar feel to them, their specific look depends on the day - time of day (lighting, cloud cover, etc.), season (snow vs grass), location (beach vs woods, indoors vs outdoors), etc. My goal is to preserve memories of a particular time and place that means something to you!

**My style is not for everyone, and that's ok! I like to go with the flow and see where the day/event takes us. If you like walking around the woods, strolling through a garden, picnicking in the park, snuggling on the couch, etc. with your loved one(s) and would love to have these special moments captured, then we would be a great fit. Please take a look at examples of my wedding and portrait photos in my portfolio to get an idea of my shooting style.

That being said, I want to get to know you. I want to hear all about your dream wedding or event. I like to get to know each client a bit before a session so that everyone feels comfortable, themselves, and at ease. I have an easy-going, friendly personality and want to make you feel as relaxed as possible during your session.

I've worked with plenty of fussy kids, squirmy pups, and boyfriends who insist on making funny faces. Leave it to me to squeeze out those perfect shots!

Beginning in May 2020, I will be based out of the Washington, D.C. area. I will still be offering portrait sessions in Lancaster, PA through April 2020.

About Sarah

I am originally from West Palm Beach, Florida, where I enjoyed playing on the gorgeous beaches, eating fresh citrus, learning to play the violin, and ballet.

When I was 12, my family moved to the mountains of North Carolina where I fell in love with a whole new climate - seasons, mountains, southern accents! My love of photography started in our 2 acres of woods in the backyard, where my sister and I would spend time around a small creek and a rope swing my dad put together.

I went to college at a small liberal arts university in Greenville, South Carolina. My love of photography grew with my first "real" camera that I took on a number of study abroad trips around the world. I loved learning about different cultures, both in and outside of the classroom, and made friendships that would last a lifetime.

After graduating I wanted to keep learning about the world around me, so I moved to Raleigh, North Carolina, to pursue a Master's degree. This is when I started taking wedding photos for friends and family, and fell in love with photographing weddings and events.

I, along with my fiancé and two pups, currently live in Lancaster, PA. We are excited to move to the D.C. area this spring!

Ellen & Isaac

We could not have imagined a better photographer. Sarah was so professional, anticipated every moment and captured them perfectly. We will treasure these photos forever. She truly captured the spirit of the evening and we are so grateful for her intuitive and warm style.
